2013 was a great year for design! From lacquered walls to the oh so coveted Beni Oarain Moroccan rug, 2013 was a tribute to true eclecticism.
Here are a handful of throwbacks to a fabulous year of design in 2013.
This Entry is an unforgettable example of using bold color and high shine to create a strikingly glamorous space.
A mix of vintage and custom made pieces make this space eclectic and fresh. The neutral color palette lends to a clean and sophisticated look.
Jonathan Adler add’s some funk to 2013, not only showcasing his his home in Lonny magazine but also opening stores in multiple locations throughout the us; including in my own home town The Big D :)
Rachel Bilson’s ranch style home in L.A. is a perfect take on mid-century minimalism with a bohemian flare, fitting to the stars boho style. A home is not a home without your personal style mixed in.
A savvy designer’s Master Bedroom displays a nice array of textures and finishes. The use of ikat pillows, shaggy plush rug, brass metal accents, and mirrored bedside tables really is the epitome of the 2013 trends.
Ah the beautiful rooms of the past year have inspired us and delighted us. Cheers to you 2013! AU REVOIR!!

4Love of Design: A Lesson in Faux Bois
November 9, 2012 § Leave a comment
Faux Bois : Pronounced “foe bwah” is a French term meaning “false wood”. This is a design element and craft that has been used since the Renaissance with the Trompe l’oeil style in France. It is the artistic imitation of wood or wood grains in various media. It has been madly popular throughout the history of interior design and decor.
Today, you see it used in a nice variety of materials, from wallpaper to fabrics, the art of Faux Bois is transcending just furniture application. I adore the look. It’s au natural and oh so classic! Mix this design element into your decor to really give it that procured look.
A neutral Faux Bois wallpaper applied to the wall add a perfect backdrop to a glam living room!
